Potential invester Q and A.

Want to be part of the Church Basement Ladies family?

How much do I need to invest?

The current working budget for the project is $350,000. We plan to offer shares in the amount of $5000 each. 70 shares would fully fund the project. You may buy as many shares as you’d like.

Do I get my investment back?

It is possible that you will get your investment back along with a return. However, while the Church Basement Ladies musicals have a large following and we hope there will be a high demand for this movie, investing in films is a risky proposition. You are likely, percentage-wise, to lose your investment.

What does my investment get me?

As an investor, you become an owner of the property. Any future money made by the property (the movie) gets split among all the investors.

What if I can't afford a share?

Currently we are hoping to fund the movie thru the purchase of shares by investors. If need be, we could use a crowd sourcing to raise additional funds. Contributions made in this way would not translate to ownership in the property.

Will I need to sign a contract?

As an investor in this project, you will become partners with In the Basement Productions in a separate LLC, “Church Basement Ladies Movie.” All accounting will go thru this company, and the terms will be outlined in an Operating Agreement signed by all parties.

How do I report this on my taxes?

Info coming soon.

How will you use the money?

Once you invest in the production your money becomes part of our working capital necessary to finance the project. The money will be used however and wherever it is needed.

Will I get credit in the movie?

Of course! And we may even invite you to be an extra!

When would you need my funds?

We are working on the shooting schedule now. Specific timelines will be available soon. Stay tuned!

What if you don't use all the capital?

Info coming soon.

What if you don't raise enough capital?

We are also looking at additional sources of funding including crowd sourcing, product placement, grants and tax incentives, and deferred payments. But we are also prepared to buy any shares that are not purchased to fully fund the project.

Will there be other CBL movie projects?

We hope so. Those projects would be funded under a separate agreement. Currently we are only looking to fund the CBL movie.

What is my expected rate of return?

Info coming soon.

Why should I invest?

There are a number of reasons people invest in a project like this. You may want to invest because you are willing to take the risk on potential returns, or for a tax write-off, or simply because you have a passion for these kinds of projects and want to support the arts.

Will the movie be available on DVD?

Do I get a say in the decision making?
