More about the project.

In the Basement Productions, a partnership of Greta Grosch and Barry Andersson, holds the exclusive rights to translate the world of the Church Basement Ladies from the stage to the screen. Originally, the thought was to make a Holiday movie and, in this entertaining and informative 30 min video, you will get a chance to meet Greta and Barry as they talk about their hopes for that project.

If you have questions or would like more information on how you can help support the Church Basement Ladies on screen, feel free to contact us.

How much will the project cost?

Our original working budget to film a CBL Holiday movie was $350,000. The plan was to offer shares to investors in the amount of $5000 each. 70 shares would fully fund the project, and folks could buy as many shares as they’d like. After filming the test footage in Jan, we are now confident that a sitcom is the way to go, which has impacted how we have budgeted for the project – but the opportunity still exists!

Do I get my investment back?

Of course, we hope the project will be a huge success so, yes, it is possible you would get your investment back. However, while the Church Basement Ladies musicals have a large following and we hope there will be a high demand to see them on screen, investing in the arts is a risky proposition. You are likely, percentage-wise, to lose your investment.

What does my investment get me?

As an investor, you become an owner of the property. Any future money made by the property gets split among all the investors.

What if I can't afford a share?

Currently we are hoping to fund the project with the help of a few investors. If need be, we could also use crowd sourcing to raise funds. Contributions made in this way would NOT translate to ownership in the property.

Will I need to sign a contract?

As an investor in this project, you would become partners with In the Basement Productions in a separate LLC, “Church Basement Ladies On Screen.” All accounting will go thru this company, and the terms would be outlined in an Operating Agreement signed by all parties.

Would I get on screen credit?

Of course! And we may even invite you to be an extra!

How will you use the money?

Once you invest in the project, your money becomes part of our working capital necessary to finance the project. The money will be used however and wherever it is needed.

Will there be other CBL movie projects?

We hope so. INBP hold the exclusive rights to exploit the property, so the sky is the limit. Additional projects would be funded under a separate agreement. Currently we are only looking to fund the CBL on screen project.

What if you don't raise enough capital?

We are also looking at additional sources of funding including crowd sourcing, product placement, grants and tax incentives, and deferred payments. But we are also prepared to buy any shares that are not purchased to fully fund the project.

Why should I invest?

There are a number of reasons people invest in a project like this. You may want to invest because you are willing to take the risk on potential returns, or for a tax write-off, or simply because you have a passion for these kinds of projects and want to support the arts.
